Heureka Shop has an Ekokompassi certificate

In September 2023, Heureka Shop was awarded the Ekokompassi environmental certificate
together with Science Center Heureka. The Finnish Nature Conservation Union's Ekokompassi, which is
based on the international ISO 14001 standard, is one of Finland's most well-known environmental systems.
Ekokompassi's environmental program helps us plan and implement environmental actions.
With Ekokompassi, we have created an environmental program with goals and measures to reduce
environmental impacts and increase a positive footprint.

We know our carbon footprint

Heureka Shop takes environmental aspects into account and develops its operations to reduce harmful environmental effects. We measured our carbon footprint for the year 2022 in cooperation with the Recycling Centre.
Heureka Shop Tikkurila's carbon footprint was 34 tons CO2eq. This corresponds to the annual carbon emissions of approximately 3–4 average Finns.

The environmental harm of Heureka Shop's sales products is significantly reduced by choosing products for sale that have less impact on the environment. In May 2023, 33% of Heureka Shop's product selection was environmentally certified and made from recycled materials. We are committed to increasing the figure to at least 50% by 2026. However, our goal is more ambitious. We aim for half of our selection to be environmentally certified already in May 2024.

 

 

 

We prefer manufacturers of environmentally certified products and thus aim to influence
that more and more manufacturers are paying attention to the environmental impact.
Priority is given to Finnish and EU suppliers whose products have been manufactured and delivered without fossils.
As a rule, we recycle packaging materials. Currently, 85% of the new packaging materials are environmentally certified.
Our goal is 100% by the end of 2024.
